ACCELERATION DUE TO GRAVITY

The force of gravity acting on a body having unit mass placed on or near the surface of the earth is called acceleration due to gravity.
It is represented by 'g'.
                                   g = GM_{e /} R_e²

where M_e = mass of earth and  R_e = radius of earth
